Run by the same group of people as the Great North Swim 10,000 people will take part and swim in Lake Windermere.
Surrounded by Windermere’s glorious scenery, you’ll find participants taking part in a range of events, covering a variety of distances. Amateurs and professionals alike can be spotted getting to grips with the water, competing in events like a 10 km swim, a two mile swim (that’s just over 3 km), or the 5 km swim.
The highlight of the event will be the 10 km swim on Friday afternoon, where swimmers will complete six laps of a pre-set course within four hours, and you can watch them from the comfort of the Lake District National Park.
If you’re up for a bit more than just watching the swimmers go by, entries are still open for teams of three to take part in the relay event on Saturday 11th June, where the three of you will take it in turns to swim 535 metres each, meaning that over the three swimmers, you’ll cover a mile in distance. Experienced kayakers will be on hand to provide help if you need it.
Kicking off on Friday 10th June, this three day event is a perfect excuse to come up and stay in the Lake District, and get to see some of Windermere’s best sights - all from a comfortable base at the Hawksmoor Lakeland Guest House, where a warm welcome awaits your family and friends.
