Ninth Visit

This was our ninth visit to the Hawksmoor and it was still as fab as ever. This guest house is second to none. Phillippa, Trevor and the staff are always so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

On arrival you are shown to your room where you are offered tea or coffee and the most delicious shortbread. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and are spotlessly clean,as are the gorgeous bathrooms where you'll find complimentary shampoo, shower gel, hand and body lotion etc. Every room has a flat screen tv and dvd player. There's a list of dvds which you can borrow free of charge.

Breakfast is served between 8am and 9.30am in the dining room. As well as a full English breakfast, you can have cereal, fresh fruit salad, toast on its own or with scrambled egg etc, porridge, yoghurt, fruit juice and every day they also have their specials too. Delicious!

The guest house is situated half way between Windermere and Bowness, so central for everything. If you're planning a trip to the Lake District, don't hesitate, book The Hawksmoor, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Thanks again to Trevor, Phillipa and the gang. See you soon.xx

Room Tip: rooms 7, 12 and 14 have balconies at the rear of the property. Fantastic on a nice day.

Excellent Rooms

Just come back from a long weekend here with my partner and it was very pleasant. The rooms were exactly as explained as it was a good size with a good sized en-suite bathroom. The breakfast was delicious as all the ingredients were sourced locally and they had a good selection including the fellwalkers breakfast (English breakfast), cereals, teas & coffee, juices & fresh fruit etc.

The location was convenient as it is situated within 10 minutes either side of Windermere town centre and Bowness where you can get a boat to Ambleside and Lakeside.

The only slight downfall I would say with this guesthouse was there were no shower caps provided in the bathroom, lack of tea selection in the rooms and the interior in the corridors was a bit outdated. But they are very minor overall in the big scheme of things.

Great two night stay in the lakes

Great b&b for so many reasons.

Located a 10 minute walk from Windermere town centre and 10 minutes walk (the other direction) to bowness (where you can access the ferry on the lake and lake side walks.. Both bowness and Windermere have great eating and drinking options.

The b&b has a car park and all facilities are spotless. The hosts are very very welcoming and knowledgable on the area. The rooms are great, clean and large with tea and coffee available all day.

There are DVD players in the rooms with a wide range of DVDs to borrow free of charge.

Breakfast is great.. All the trimmings and very nice with daily specials.

Also, 10 mins down the rd is a hotel where you can use all the spa facilities as a guest of Hawksmoor.

Will Definitely stay here again.

Nice Easter Break

Stayed here for four nights over Easter. Hotel is really good quality. Its clean, has really friendly staff and does a really good breakfast! Probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had !! Its a five minute walk to Windermere and about 7 minute walk in to Bowness. Bowness is the larger with more going on and the pier to catch the boats. Had dinner at a place called Bad Olives in Bowness which i would recommend and also had dinner at Francines in Windermere which was also good. If you're there for a Saturday I would recommend booking a place to eat as everywhere was fully booked.

I would love to come back and stay again. Highly recommended.

Amazing B&B! So friendly and amazing breakfast!!

Such a lovely place to stay. Rooms are lovely and are a great size! When we arrived the owner, Philippa was so nice! She upgraded our room for free as it was my boyfriend's birthday. We were greeted and shown around on arrival.

The breakfast was excellent!! Their eggs were delish!! They even organised a surprise birthday sparkler on my boyfriend's breakfast, it was such a lovely touch! Very thoughtful and personal!

We would 100% recommend and would use Hawksmoor again!!
