As good as ever!

We have just returned from our second visit to Hawksmoor and found it to be as good as ever. In an area full of B&B's, owners have to offer something special and Trevor and Phillippa do just that. From a warm welcome and tea and homemade shortbread to the beautifully appointed rooms, everything about this B&B is perfect. The staff are just lovely and really cannot do enough for you, they really make you feel welcome.

Our room had a balcony overlooking the back of the property, if the weather is fine, this is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a morning cuppa. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms luxurious with local toiletries and heated underfloors and there is a fridge for fresh milk etc.

Rooms have a DVD player and there is an extensive choice of dvd's to borrow which we took advantage of in the evenings. Breakfast was as good as ever, beautifully cooked and a wide choice. Location is perfect for everything in the lakes, the property has plenty of parking and will always be our choice to stay if we visit again.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quiet with a lovely outlook over a stream

Fabulous find!

Booked based on reviews on tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed.

Met at the door with a smile and a warm welcome, closely followed by a cop of tea and some lovely homemade shortbread.

We stayed in room 7 on the ground floor at the back overlooking the woods and stream. We had a small balcony and enjoyed a glass of bubbly in the sun before going out!

Brilliant shower and everything u could need in the room including a fridge.

Breakfast was lovely with lovely fresh pastries as well as fresh fruit, cereals and a great selection of hot choices.

Thanks for a wonderful stay and my friends little birthday surprise it was much appreciated.

Excellent Stay

Hawksmoor Guesthouse is an excellent choice for a stay in the Lakes. The welcome we received from Trevor was one of the warmest and friendliest we have ever had. We were given tea and biscuits, a welcome treat after an 8 hour journey, and asked what we were hoping to do so he could give us recommendations. Our room was at the back with a balcony overlooking woodland- very peaceful. There is a road at the front but it was pretty quiet by the end of the day and we slept with our windows and doors open and were'nt disturbed at all.

The room was spotlessly clean with all the amenities you need including bottles of complimentary mineral water in your fridge. Powerful shower and separate bath with a TV over it. There was extra teas downstairs which you could help yourself to as well as DVD library.

Breakfast was exactly what you need to set you up for a day of walking- it was busy but the service was prompt and the staff friendly and attentive. Free fast wifi. There is ample off road parking. We didn't make us of the complimentary spa access.

You can walk to both Bowness and Windermere within 15 minutes and we didn't need the car the entire stay making use of ferries and boats. There's also a good local bus service. We ate at Angel Inn, Wild and Porto- all were very good, especially Wild and Porto.

I rarely give out 5 stars as, to me, to deserve 'excellent' you have to go above and beyond however Hawksmoor defintely deserves it and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Lake District Stopover

Just stayed for one night but it was definitely one of the nicest B+B's I have stayed in for a very reasonable price. Lovely, modern room with an extensive wet room. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and the cooked breakfast was delicious. There was no bath in our room but this seems to be common in most places these days so it was hardly a disappointment and we didn't request it especially so can't really complain. We decided to watch a late night movie from their DVD collection and chose Miss Potter as we were in Beatrix Potter land! We unfortunately didn't have time to use the complimentary spa facilities at the Macdonald but this was a lovely benefit to have.

Would definitely return again!
