Wonderful Gem

From the welcome to leaving made to feel very welcome. Room was modern and clean, slight worry being on ground floor next to car park but this turned out to be no problem. Breakfast was excellent the staff were attentative and service was excellent. Mid way between Bowness and Windermere 15 minute walk to both.

Would stay again.

10 out of 10 all round!

So glad my boyfriend and I booked at the Hawksmoor Guesthouse!

The location is perfect - a short walk to both Windermere for lovely cafes and scrummy places to eat, or Bowness-on-Windermere for the lake, cruises and ice cream!

We had a warm and friendly welcome, and nothing was too much trouble at all. We were given advice on cycle routes and local attractions and there was also a safe storage shed for my boyfriends bike.

Our room was number 9 and was wonderful - from the fluffy pillows and comfy duvet to the tea, coffee, Galaxy hot chocolate, biscuits and wine glasses available when we arrived.

The bathroom had underfloor heating and was decorated with a quirky graffiti style tiling which we loved.
The bath was huge, and although there was no shower glass, we managed with the separate shower head.
I love that the guesthouse provide large sized toiletries, bubble bath, shampoo, shower gel, hand wash and's even better that they smell wonderful and are from an eco friendly local company.
Breakfast was served 8:15-9:45 and was superb.

Fresh fruit, a selection of yoghurts and cereals as well as pastries were stocked every morning, and the cooked breakfasts were cooked to perfection using locally sourced produce.

From creamy porridge, to fresh bright yolked eggs in every variety including Benedict or Royale, plus vegetarian and full english fry ups there was no shortage of choice.

The staff made our stay perfect, and I have already recommend Hawksmoor to some friends and family who plan on visiting.

We would love to stay here boyfriend is intent on booking the bathroom with the TV next time!

Wet n windy in Windermere!

Had a great time for dear boys birthday at the Hawksmoor. Fresh clean modern decor (no 80s chintz here! ).Good quality ingredients for breakfast (black pud available, yes!). Beds sooo comfy and as he's 6ft 6 and I'm 6ft it's great to have a zip bed and topper to stretch out on. Plus points- fridge in room so we picnicked on the balcony for lunch on arrival and the next day. Home made toiletries to die for bought two lots to take home. Room 12 lovely and quiet at back, big bath too. Free Dvds available if you wanted to pass the time when the weather is really bad. Free pass for spa in town which was wonderful.

Down side-none!

Staff friendly and helpful owners. Trevor took time to ring when I booked a different room than I thought, canceled it with no problem and was happy to rebook when I couldn't find anywhere as good for the price. Ideally situated smack bang in middle between Windermere and Bowness a short pleasent walk to both. Nice touches choccies on bed, spotlights above room number and lovely well kept aquarium in breakfast room. Could not fault this place would happily recommend it ps thanks for birthday sparkler in breakfast!

Beautiful room, brilliant staff & ideal location

We stayed at Hawksmoor B&B for our 'minimoon' in July and what a fab place we chose. We stayed in room 11 which had a 4 poster bed, which was incredibly comfortable. The decor of the room and the luxury of the bathroom were very impressive. The bathroom had underfloor heating and mood lighting making for a lovely relaxing bath! We could not fault the room at all.

We arrived to a lovely welcome from Phillipa with a cup of tea/coffee and biscuit while she provided us with some very useful local info and maps. Once in our room we found flowers and chocolates on the bed and a card congratulating us on our marriage. Such a lovely thoughtful touch.

The breakfast options are plentiful and all very tasty, with great quality produce (proper bacon and sausages). The staff at breakfast couldn't do enough for you.

There is a big selection of free DVD rentals which we took advantage of, we mostly pestered Trevor, and like everyone else, he couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

The location is spot on, with it being a 10 minute walk into Bowness and Windermere (both are opposite directions).

10/10 in every way! We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Second stay here!

This was our second time here, we first stayed here many years ago and forgot that we had stayed here when booking it again! We came up for a wedding in the area, and also just to relax in Bowness, one of our favourite parts of the country :-)

We arrived later in the evening than we had anticipated due to traffic, but were given a warm welcome by Philippa, the tea and home made biscuits were sooo good after a long drive! Lots of local information in the reception, i.e. taxi numbers etc.

Our room was on the second floor, and the room was lovely, bed was very comfortable.

The bathroom was good too, only negative point was that there was a big spider web on the shower head (I'm absolutely terrified of spiders!)...we got rid of it and the shower itself was lovely apart from that!

The first night, all the heating was turned off, but the room itself was still quite warm, so our sleep was a bit disturbed for the first half, but we kept the window open all night and the temp went down. The following night was much better as we kept the window open.

Breakfast was very good on both mornings, great start to the day, really good quality items, and the coffee was amazing!

Really also liked the fact that there was a iron and ironing table on each floor, just outside our door!
Good wifi available in the house throughout.

The location is very convenient, just turn right out of the house and its a straight walk down to Bowness, turn left and its a straight walk to Windermere.

We checked out on the Sunday morning, but Philippa and Trevor very kindly let us park at the house for the day while we went and spent the day in Bowness, which saved on parking down there, so thank you for letting us do that!

We totally forgot to bring gym/swimming stuff, as we forgot that if you stay here you get access to the facilities at the Macdonald don't forget to bring that with you!

Overall, would definitely recommend the house if you are visiting the area! Am sure we will be back as we love Bowness and the Lakes :-)
