Our three favourite restaurants in WindermereFor fine dining, for seafood & for good pub grub…!

As we don't have a restaurant here at the Hawksmoor Lakeland Guest House, we're often asked by our guests if we can recommend some great local places to eat. Here in Windermere, at the heart of the Lake District, we're surrounded by a wealth of local produce - as well as by fantastic chefs who know just how to use it. If you're looking for a great place to eat in the local area, then wonder no more, as here are our top three:

For fine dining…

Those looking for something special should try Porto Restaurant (http://www.porto-restaurant.co.uk/) in Bowness-on-Windermere.. It's an award-winning restaurant that prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients to produce a variety of freshly prepared dishes with a traditional twist. From venison haunch steaks to slow cooked belly of pork, you'll be able to enjoy your meal in either the upstairs or downstairs dining room, or up on the heated roof terrace.

For seafood…

First opened in 2010, Hooked (http://www.hookedwindermere.co.uk/) specialises in locally sourced seafood prepared with a range of influences from all over the globe. The menu changes each day, depending on the day's catch, but you'll find plenty of fish and seafood dishes with Mediterranean, Australasian and South East Asian flavours.

For good pub grub…

Enjoy good quality pub grub in the oldest pub in Bowness when you visit the New Hall Inn (http://www.newhallinnbownessonwindermere.robinsonsbrewery.com/our-pub), also known as the Hole in't Wall. You'll enjoy good home-cooked meals (and decent portions), with a great range of cask ales available too.
