If the thought of another festive season spent stuffing the turkey and listening to the Queen's speech leaves you cold, how about having something different planned for this year?
Family seasonal gatherings can be fun but also exhausting, especially if you are doing the brunt of the organising, shopping, cooking and everything else that has to be done.
So why not escape right afterwards and treat yourself to a midwinter break at our B&B in Windermere at the Hawksmoor Lakeland Guest House, and let someone else take care of you for a change? Or see in the New Year in style?
After all, New Year's Day falls on a Thursday this year, so you only need to book the Friday off to get a clear four day escape.
As long as you set out early enough, wrap up warmly and take all the usual common sense precautions, it's actually a lovely time of year for cycling and walking, with the countryside
looking starkly beautiful.
Stay in our Lake District B&B accommodation and you'll find endless walking and cycling opportunities to burn off those festive calories. Mind you, with so many excellent local eateries, we can't guarantee you won't fall prey to temptation all over again.
From music to poetry and more, there's plenty going on in these parts if you prefer to not walk or cycle all the time, even in the dead of winter.
And, if you visit us later in January, there are events on from the Royal Northern Sinfonia Concert on January 31st in Kendal to the local Arts and Books Festival which runs from January 23rd to 25th. Meanwhile, the Grassmere and the Great War Exhibition runs all the way through until March.
Book now to recover from, extend or round off this year's Christmas and New Year celebrations!
