The Lake Districtmakes for a great winter break

Summer in the UK is definitely over, and as we reach the second half of October, it's safe to say that autumn has most certainly kicked in, with temperatures dropping dramatically across the country over the last ten days. However, whilst you may normally associate your holidays with the summer months, taking a break in either or autumn or winter is a great way to cheer yourself up among the dark nights and wet weather. There's no better place than the Lake District, so here's two reasons why it's the perfect winter break destination!

1. It's perfect place to enjoy the best about autumn and winter

When we think about autumn and winter, we picture crisp mornings, fallen leaves, and beautiful snow covered landscapes - but unfortunately for most of us, the reality is cold winds and wet weather. However, in the Lake District you really can live out your autumnal and winter fantasies, with the perfect landscape in which to enjoy the best that each season has to offer! The lakes and woodland both look superb in the winter morning light, especially with a fresh covering of white snow.

2. There's plenty to do, even in the depths of winter

The Lake District is ideally suited to cold weather breaks, as there's just so much to do! Whether you're into walking, cycling, touring a few pubs, or relaxing by the fire in a great B and B in Windermere such as the Hawksmoor Hotel, you'll find something for you. It's also great for amateur photographers or landscape enthusiasts, and has great breweries, historical monuments and churches.
