Three great festive thingsto do in the Lake District this Christmas

With the busy festive season upon us, it’s time to take a well-earned break from hectic working life. With its stunning market towns, lakes and forests, the Lake District offers a fantastic base for a yuletide break, be it a romantic retreat or a family getaway.

Here are our a few of our favourite festive events in the Lakes this year:

1. Made in Cumbria Farmer’s Market, Kendal

The beautiful town of Kendal has held a market charter since 1189 and this year will host a festive market on the 18th, featuring fare and products from local traders including fresh bread, locally sourced meats and organic vegetables, among many other local products.

2. Beatrix Potter Christmas Parties

A great option if you have little ones, the World of Beatrix Potter museum in Bowness-on-Windermere will host wonderful festive tea parties for all the family. Party tickets include a menu of turkey, tuna and cheese sandwiches, pigs in blankets, fairy cakes along with other festive delights and will feature a viewing of the animated film and popular potter classic, The Tailor of Gloucester. Rumour has it there might even be a visit from a certain Mr Christmas himself!

3. Mason Arms Festive Fantasy Wine Evening

For a more adult alternative, The Mason Arms, at nearby Bowland Bridge, will host a Festive Fantasy Wine Evening on the 23rd December for wine enthusiasts and novices alike. Ticket prices include a three course festive menu and a range of wines to taste.
