Less than half a mile away from Hawksmoor, Hooked serves the freshest seafood with influences from the Med, South East Asia and Australasia. Charming owner Michael Gould is a true host who not only welcomes diners, but entertains them. The menu changes daily depending on the catches available from Fleetwood fish supplier, West Coast Seafood. Book ahead! Price: £20-£30.
On a budget: Cafe Italia
You know somewhere serves good food when the locals eat there, and this delightful little cafe on Main Road in the centre of town is always frequented Windermerians. With friendly staff, good ambience and subtle background music, it's the perfect place to watch the world go by. Offering a range of pizzas and light bites (try the deliciously cheesy cheese on toast), it's a great place to head before or after sightseeing. Plus, if you like to eat al fresco, there's outside seating with heaters for the cooler months. Price: £5-£20.
