Top tips for your visit to WindermereTop tips for your visit to Windermere

Choosing the right accommodation for your visit to the Lake District can be difficult when there are so many options to choose from: camping in the great outdoors, cheap and cheerful B&Bs or something a little more luxurious.

If that little bit of luxury sounds most tempting, the Hawksmoor Guest House is for you, and we look forward to welcoming you soon. Our luxury B and B in Bowness-in-Windermere is beautifully situated in its own grounds with views to the woods and the stunning Lake Windermere not far from our doorstep. 12 sumptuous en-suite bedrooms provide guests with just the relaxation and space required after a hard day’s cycling around the Lake District’s many scenic cycling routes or after a visit to some of the area’s hidden gems on foot or by car.

Whatever your reason for visiting, we want to make your experience of our beautiful surroundings as enjoyable as possible. Here are three of our top tips for making the most of your visit to the Hawksmoor Lakeland Guest House:

  1. Sample the culinary delights of local restaurants and cafes. If you have a palate for fine food, Holbeck Ghyll has built a reputation around serving the very best food, locally sourced where possible, all accompanied by panoramic views of Lake Windermere. During your day’s cycling or exploring, you could also sample the delights of Sarah Nelson’s world-famous Grasmere Gingerbread, or stop for a tasty afternoon tea in one of the many cafes.

  2. Explore the area by bike. The popular cycling routes in the Lake District give cyclists the chance to explore some great spots previously undiscovered by those exploring by car. Scenic routes provide ample fresh air and memorable backdrops to view in awe. We even have a secure cycling shed and boot room so you have somewhere to put your bike and accessories.

  3. Our final tip is to simply enjoy the great outdoors and nature at its best!
