Windermere makes for a peaceful escape for people of all ages, and there's no reason why that shouldn't include the youngest members of your family. At Hawksmoor Lakeland Guest House we have a family room for four, and can also offer plenty of amenities that make your life easier. Not only do visiting children enjoy the great outdoors, but there's also plenty to do nearby for little travellers, so you can keep them entertained in all weathers.

South Lakes Animal Park

With plenty of space for the animals to explore and play, this is the perfect spot to see creatures in their natural environment. Just half an hour's drive from our B and B in Windermere, you'll be able to see lions, giraffes, and plenty of other exotic species, and there's a year round calendar of events to keep the family happy.

Aquarium of the Lakes

At the Aquarium of the Lakes, you can learn about all the fish and creatures that live below the surface of Lake Windermere, with a glass tunnel that's a recreation of a walk under this iconic lake. The aquarium also has exhibitions about lakes around the world, from the colourful creatures of the tropical rainforests to the adorable otters of Asia.

Beatrix Potter Museum and Hilltop

Beatrix Potter has delighted children for generations with her charming animal books, and a visit to her home (now a museum) is essential for fans. The museum is just a short bike ride from our cycling friendly hotel in Windermere, and features scenery you'll recognise from the books, from the vegetable garden, to the interior of her cosy cottage.

Children love the vast spaces of the Lake District, and by bringing them to a spot such as Windermere, it's easy to keep them entertained all year round.

Remember if you need to book a hotel in Windermere why not try us here at The Hawksmoor.
